NeoTicker®

Tick Precise Technologies

Consistent and Efficient Tick Update

NeoTicker®'s real-time data kernel distributes ticks to trigger various calculations. As ticks arrive, values of indicators and trading systems are updated. This is done for every tick received. So indicators and trading systems always have the latest values.

During this process, most charting programs take the easy way out by recalculating the complete indicator series, which is an approach that works only with the simplest setups, but is completely un-scalable.

Not with NeoTicker®. NeoTicker®'s heap technology ensures only the last value of an indicator is recalculated. So no matter how long the indicator series is, only the last value is recalculated. This approach ensures speedy indicator calculation. In fact, NeoTicker® can recalculate indicators in real-time for indicators that have more than a million bars.

Key Benefits
  • Consistent and efficient tick updates
  • Smart caching of tick data
  • Bid/ask data support
  • Tick Precise Indicators
  • Historical bars from ticks

Smart Caching

Your computer cannot calculate without data. Because data is stored on your data vendor's server, data speed is limited by the speed of your connection to their servers. In effect, the Internet is the bottleneck of your calculations. This problem is especially severe for tick data because most commonly traded instruments carry a tremendous amount of tick data.

NeoTicker® has a sophisticated caching mechanism to handle tick data. Once tick data has been retrieved from data vendor, it is cached locally on your hard drive. So calculations that require the same data do not have to re-download the data.

Caching mechanism is smart. You have options to control how data holes in cache can be back filled with data vendor data. By downloading only the required data, NeoTicker® significantly reduces the need to access Internet for data.

Bid Ask Data Support

Efficiency enables NeoTicker® to handle bid ask data as if they are regular tick data. NeoTicker® can cache bid and ask data so you can use historical bid ask data in your analysis, including indicator calculation.

Tick Precise Indicators

NeoTicker® features a number of indicators utilizing tick level analysis to showcase what can be done when you have complete access to historical bid/ask/trade data. For example, TP BidAskTrade and other TP indicators are the only indicators in the market today enabling users to measure the breadth of price actions, both in real-time and in historical data. Thus research on their significance can be accomplished easily.

Historical Bars from Ticks

All data vendors clean up their historical tick data to remove bad trades, etc. In a sense, they are doing a service by providing clean data. However, clean data is undesirable for users who expect 100% consistency between historical and real-time calculations. When you use clean historical data to test indicators and trading systems, there is no guarantee the testing result has any relevancy to real-time performance. Worst, because you cannot control when and how data vendors clean up the data, each run of indicators and trading systems can yield different results. Testing will be difficult to carry out.

Two features of NeoTicker® solve this problem - smart caching of tick data and reconstruction of historical bars from ticks.

We have seen how smart caching can improve performance. Caching has an additional advantage - data vendors cannot touch the data. Once stored on your hard drive, the ticks are the ultimate stable and consistent data source.

NeoTicker® charts have the ability to reconstruct historical bars from ticks with tick replay. During tick replay, tick files are read and ticks are used to reconstruct historical bars, just like real-time. Indicators are triggered on a tick-by-tick basis for recalculations. Combined with locally stored tick data, the resulting chart will be identical to what you see in real-time.

Only with NeoTicker® technology ensures you 100% historical and real-time calculation consistency at tick level.
