Troubleshooting Broker Connections

Symptom: (IB Only) TWS does not receive orders from NeoTicker®.

Causes and solutions:

  1. TWS is not launched by NeoTicker®. Close TWS and NeoTicker®. Launch NeoTicker®.
  2. TWS not configured to receive orders from external programs. Configure TWS (see Enabling TWS to Accept Connections). Restart TWS and NeoTicker®.

Symptom: Orders received by broker, but are rejected

Causes and solutions:

  1. Brokers will reject orders that are outside the limit of the account. Try a smaller order size.
  2. For demo accounts, some brokers will reject orders that look unrealistic. Try a smaller order size.
  3. (IB Only) NeoTicker® did not resolve the symbol type. TWS requires correct symbol type for placing orders. This can happen if NeoTicker is not connected to a real-time data vendor, or if the data vendor do not provide symbol type.

    Assume you are trying to trade stocks. Work around is in main window, choose Order>Order Interface Setup to open Order Interface Setup. Under Order Defaults tab, change the Security Type to stock. This will make NeoTicker® to send all unknown symbols as stocks.

    Likewise you can set the default security type to Future.

Sympton: (IB Only) Orders filled by IB, but NeoTicker® does not receive order status

Causes and solutions:

  1. TWS is not configured to sent out order status. In TWS, make sure Config>API>Fire openOrder on status' change is enabled. Restart TWS and NeoTicker®.

Sympton: (MB Trading Only) Order is sent, but are not filled.

Causes and solutions:

  1. You are using demo account to place orders for unsupported symbols. See MB Trading Demo Symbols. Use another symbol and place order.
